School Community Council

SCC 2024/2025 School Year

School Community Councils are established to help strengthen the capacity of the school to improve children's learning.  The purpose of School Community Council is to develop shared responsibility for the learning success and well-being of all children and youth and to encourage and facilitate parent and community engagement in school planning and improvement processes.

 A parent or community  member serving on the council is a dedicated volunteer providing advice for educational planning and decision making at the school level.  They are interested in working with others to support the student learning success and well-being.  Members must be willing to be guided by the "principles" that support good School Community Councils and be able to provide a two year commitment to the work of the Council.

The SCC is a dedicated group of parents, school staff and administrator that meets several times a year to share ideas and information about St. Mary School.  The SCC provides opportunities to examine school issues and to be involved in programming discussions.  The SCC discusses and collaboratively makes decisions that may affect fundraising, safety, student activities, student achievement, and school improvement. 

Meeting take place in the school and are open to the public, parents and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend meetings and support school programs and special events.
